‘I just want to be best friends. Forever’
Laura accepts a friend request on Facebook from a strange girl – Marina – in her Psych class at college, but soon finds her new friend is far too intense. When Laura tries to get some distance, Marina kills herself…but that is not enough to break the bonds of friendship.
A creepy ghost story with a modern technological twist. A few good scares, but there was nothing particularly outstanding about this film. There’s some interesting and beautiful animation sequences worked into the plot early on, which did bring something a little different to the cinematography, which I enjoyed.
I’m presume the message of this story was supposed to be ‘don’t become too invested in false friends and social media bravado’, but the message it left me with was ‘don’t be nice to strange people’! Laura – and her friends – really didn’t seem to deserve to be punished, which made the story less enjoyable for me. I do like there to be an element of karma in these kind of ghostly revenge stories!
However, all in all, it’s worth a watch for some straightforward spooky scares.
